The Teacher’s Aide Professional Program is responsible for providing support in a classroom setting to teachers, students, and parents. The program will assist the teachers in their daily duties and tasks, ensuring that the classroom runs smoothly and that students are learning in an environment that is conducive to their learning. The teacher’s aide will help create lesson plans, monitor student progress, assist with classroom discipline, and help with administrative tasks. Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and executing classroom activities

Teacher’s Aide Professionals are educational professionals who work alongside full-time teachers to reinforce their instruction and provide administrative assistance. Teacher’s Aides perform many different tasks such as one on one attention with struggling students, monitoring the classroom anytime the full-time teacher is out, grading assignment, and integrating different technology into the classroom. Being a teacher’s aide is a very rewarding career that provides the opportunity of teaching without the extensive academic training. Working as a teacher’s aide is also a wonderful starting career for those looking to advance to a full-time teacher. The salary for teacher’s aides can vary depending on location and school district. The 2015 median salary for a teacher’s aide was $24,900.

What’s in this Program? This complete training program is comprised of seven individual courses that prepare students for an entry level position as a teacher’s aide. In this program, we will cover child & adolescent development, child health, safety, and nutrition, classroom management, SMARTboard training, and the career of teacher assisting. Successfully completing this program will give students the necessary skills and knowledge to become a successful teacher’s aide and prepare students to sit for the ETS’ ParaPro Assessment Certification exam. States may require additional education and experience for employment.

Students that successfully complete our career training programs are assigned a career development adviser who will coordinate placement at a local externship or hands on opportunity. These opportunities are optional and may vary based on availability and occupation. Your career development adviser will also provide job search services such as: resume building, mock interviews, job opportunity resources, and more.
